Explora Journeys has appointed several high-level professionals to its management team. Koray Savas has joined the MSC Group brand from MSC Cruises as Vice President of Hotels, and Alban Gjoka has been promoted to Vice President of Food and Beverage. Both report to Explora Journeys CEO Michael Ungerer.

Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys, stated: “It has been almost three months since we launched our first ship, EXPLORA I, and we are now moving into the next chapter in our brand’s growth. Koray and Alban bring extensive experience and expertise to our hotel and food and beverage operations, respectively, and will add great value to our ship at sea, as well as to the development of the onboard experience on our next five luxury cruises.”
Koray Savas has worked in the cruise industry for 22 years, the last five at MSC Cruises, most recently at the company's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, where for two years he was Brand Performance Director, overseeing hotel operations and guest experience on cruises based in Asia, the Gulf region and the Mediterranean Sea.
In 2022, he became Brand Performance Director for MSC Cruises' world cruises, in which, for the first time, two of the group's ships sailed simultaneously on their round-the-world voyages. Prior to his move to Geneva, Savas spent three years as Vice President of Hotel Operations in Asia, based in Shanghai, China.
Alban Gjoka joined Explora Journeys in early 2022 as Senior Head of Culinary Operations from the Apollo Group, where he worked for 15 years as Senior Executive Chef and Culinary Director of a luxury cruise line, overseeing large-scale international food and beverage operations.
Previously, Gjoka worked for five years at another leading luxury cruise company in various food and beverage roles, most recently as Culinary Director, where he was involved in leading the food and beverage strategy.
