Norwegian Cruise Line returns to Asia after three years

Norwegian Cruise Line returns to Asia after the Norwegian Jewel set sail from Tokyo and began its six-month season of voyages in the region.

Asia

As the first ship in the Norwegian fleet to return to Asia in more than three years, the Norwegian Jewel will offer 16 immersive itineraries with a wide variety of ports of call, visiting 11 countries and embarking from nine different departure ports, including Bangkok (Laem Chabang), Thailand; Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Malaysia; Singapore; Taipei (Keelung), Taiwan; Bali (Benoa), Indonesia; Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan; and for the first time in Norwegian history, Manila in the Philippines and Seoul (Incheon) in South Korea.

The cruises, lasting between 10 and 14 days, with an average of less than two days at sea per cruise, invite guests to enjoy up to 13 hours in destinations such as Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as stay overnight in places with vibrant nightlife, such as Phuket (Thailand), Osaka (Japan), and Bali (Benoa) (Indonesia). The brand will also make its first stops in Manila, Boracay, Palawan, and Salomague (Philippines), Bintan Island (Indonesia), and Hualien (Taiwan).

We have reached another milestone in our return to Asia with the arrival of the Norwegian Jewel in Tokyo,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We pride ourselves on offering the ultimate vacation experience and providing endless opportunities for our guests to explore the world… including Asia! This region offers travelers the chance to discover an intriguing history, cuisine, and culture. We are thrilled to offer a diverse selection of voyages with a wide variety of ports of call.”

Supporting the company's commitment to Asia, both as a source and destination market, Norwegian will have four ships in the region during the 2024/25 season, offering travelers a choice. In addition to the Norwegian Jewel, the Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Sun, and Norwegian Sky will also visit the area's most diverse ports, giving guests the opportunity to explore iconic destinations as well as less-discovered ones.

Norwegian Sun

The Norwegian Sun debuts in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and Asia.

At its launch, it will offer a six-month season in Asia Pacific, including 13 exotic itineraries from October 2024 to April 2025, four of which have never been offered before, including three departures from Melbourne, Australia, and one departure from Auckland, New Zealand, to Bali, Indonesia, in March 2025.

Norwegian Spirit

The Norwegian Spirit returns to Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and Asia. Following an incredibly successful inaugural season, the Norwegian Spirit will return to Australian and New Zealand waters for a second consecutive season, from December 2023 to March 2024, to conduct a series of cruises between Sydney and Auckland.

It will then undertake a series of repositioning cruises in the South Pacific, before returning to the region for a series of 14 voyages to Asia over an eight-month season, from September 2024 to April 2025, departing from Manila, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Seoul.

Norwegian Sky

The Norwegian Sky offers a variety of exotic itineraries around Asia, Asia-Pacific and Africa.

The Norwegian Sky's four-month Asian season includes seven sailings from Manila (Philippines), Singapore, Taipei (Taiwan), Tokyo, and Port Louis (Mauritius) between December 2024 and March 2025. The voyages range from 10 to 17 days and include several country immersion trips to discover destinations such as the Philippines and Japan in depth.

For guests who wish to fully immerse themselves in the destination, some cruises can be combined with three-night, four-day shore excursions with one of NCL's sightseeing cruises in Tokyo, Taipei, and Singapore.
