Princess Cruises will feature renowned butcher Dario Cecchini in a pop-up bistro, The Butcher's Block by Dario, aboard the new Sun Princess.
With 48 years of experience, this eighth-generation butcher is renowned for his shop and restaurants in the Tuscan town of Panzano, Italy. Featured on Netflix's 'Chef's Table,' Cecchini is known for his care and responsibility towards animals and for using all cuts of meat, showcasing his grandmother's recipes that he fell in love with as a child.
Specialty: improvised experience
The Butcher's Block by Dario, located on Deck 9 of the Sun Princess, will come to life as a special impromptu experience with a large, family-style communal table where a carnivorous feast of grilled meats and steaks will be served, including Cecchini's signature cuts.
Crown Grill Special Menu
In addition, the cruise line's steakhouse, Crown Grill, will offer a refined, upscale menu designed by Cecchini. It includes bistecca alla Fiorentina, a Florentine steak prepared on the bone, sourced directly from the prestigious Antica Macelleria Cecchini butcher shop in Panzano.
Among the previously announced specialty restaurants on the Sun Princess are Kai Sushi, a modern sushi bar; Sabatini's Italian Trattoria, a Princess favorite serving freshly made Italian pasta; Umai Teppanyaki, a Sun Princess exclusive that fuses teppan cooking and entertainment; and The Catch by Rudi, a seafood restaurant from celebrity chef Rudi Sodamin.
The Sun Princess is scheduled to enter service in February.
