The plenary session of the Consell has agreed this Tuesday to the appointment of Mar Chao López as the new president of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), as announced by the spokesperson of the Valencian Government, Ruth Merino, at the press conference.
A civil engineer specializing in roads, canals and ports from the University of A Coruña and a law graduate from the Open University of Catalonia, Mar Chao has developed her work in the field of logistics in both the public and private sectors.
Until joining the Port Authority of Valencia as Commercial and Business Development Director in 2017, she served as CEO of the Reyser Group. In the public sector, she has worked for the Port Authority of A Coruña as Head of the Service Provision Unit, and for the Port Authority of Vigo as Head of the Port Operations Division and Head of the Operations Department. Between December 2006 and March 2009, Mar Chao held the position of Director General of Transport for the Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government of Galicia), serving as a board member of the Port Authority of Ferrol and as President of Portos de Galicia (Ports of Galicia).
After four years at the Port Authority of Valencia, in January 2021 she was appointed Director of Operations for State Ports, and just one year later she returned to the private sector as Head of Multimodal Transport at Inditex. In January 2023, she returned to the Port of Valencia to her previous position as Commercial and Business Development Director, a post she held until her appointment this Tuesday as President of the Port Authority of Valencia.
