The Port of Haifa announces that it has selected Bermello, Ajamil & Partners to design Israel's first purpose-built cruise terminal. Bermello, Ajamil & Partners is the world's most renowned cruise terminal designer. The firm has designed major terminals in Miami, Seattle, San Francisco, Singapore, New York, Galveston, Mauritius, and many other locations.

The port of Haifa has become one of the fastest-growing cruise destinations in the post-pandemic era. Previously known for its relatively modest passenger numbers, Haifa has experienced an extraordinary surge in popularity, attracting an impressive influx of approximately 380,000 Israeli passengers and 250,000 tourists who either stop over at the port or embark on cruises. This remarkable growth has been accompanied by the arrival of nearly 30 different cruise lines, 10 of which have chosen Haifa as their homeport.
The new cruise terminal will be the first major project for the Port of Haifa since its privatization earlier this year. The port, 70% owned by India's Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and 70% by Israel's Gadot Group , sees cruises and tourism as fundamental components of its future. The new terminal will elevate Haifa to the next level as a major Mediterranean cruise hub.
The design of the new terminal will be particularly sensitive to Israel's history and culture, as well as to the planned development of the waterfront. This commitment to preserving the essence of Israel's heritage and seamlessly integrating into Haifa's future growth underscores the port's dedication to harmonious and sustainable expansion.
