TUI Cruises revealed the exterior details aboard the Mein Schiff 8, which will be a new class for the German cruise line and the largest ship ever built for its fleet.
The 326-meter-long vessel will feature open space thanks to interconnected exterior decks, a wicker roof structure over parts of the 25-meter pool and sunbathing areas, and a jogging track. At the stern of the ship, guests will enjoy additional open space, where a sun terrace leads to an infinity pool.
Björn Asmussen, architect for 3Deluxe, noted that “on the eighth ship, guests can experience open space in a novel way. The ship will offer several wonderful places to relax and enjoy the sea view. The iconic roof, which resembles a light-filled cave, will not only be visible from afar but will also offer guests a very special space—a unique place that probably doesn't exist on any other ship.”.
Construction of the Mein Schiff 8 began in June 2022 at the Fincantieri Monfalcone shipyard near Trieste, Italy. This will be the first ship in the TUI Cruises fleet to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), and will offer a variety of efficiency upgrades compared to the company's older vessels.
