Acquired from Seajets in 2022, the Renaissance was built in 1993 and, according to Mer et Marine, has recently completed its extensive refurbishment at the Damen shipyard in Brest, France, so it is now ready for its grand debut.
The 1,285-passenger vessel, now sporting CFC's livery and features, is receiving its final touches before its maiden voyage. Departure is scheduled for June 29, but prior to that, it will offer a trial cruise on June 23, according to Mer et Marine.
Targeting French-speaking markets, the ship offers a “French identity,” according to CFC, which includes not only cruises departing from French ports, but also customized entertainment and gastronomy, as well as a French-speaking crew.
With French actress Anne Parillaud as godmother, the christening ceremony of the Renaissance is scheduled for June 28 in the French port of Le Havre and the following day, the ship will set sail on its inaugural cruise: a ten-night trip to the British Isles and Belgium on a round trip itinerary from Le Havre that includes visits to Invergordon (Scotland), Lerwick (Shetland Islands) and Zeebrugge (Belgium).
Continuing its inaugural season, the ship will offer additional itineraries in Northern Europe before repositioning to the Mediterranean in September. Based in the French port of Marseille, the program includes itineraries to various destinations, such as the Greek Islands, the Canary Islands, and the Western Mediterranean, among others.
Following its inaugural season, the Renaissance will offer a Caribbean and South American cruise in early 2024.
