Park 19 Opening at the Sun Princess

Princess Cruises' family activity zone is heading into adventure aboard the new Sun Princess, when the first Sphere-class ship debuts Park19 in February 2024. Located on the upper decks of the Sun Princess, it features nine activities for the whole family.

“Park19, as its name suggests, is a new space created for all our guests, featuring activities to bring together multigenerational families in a location with spectacular views and fun outdoor activities for everyone,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “The new area was developed based on feedback from guests who requested more space for family and group activities.”

Located on decks 19, 20 and 21, Park19 was designed for active guests and multigenerational families to enjoy through inclusive and engaging activities, including:

  • Sea Breeze – Inspired by the dream of hang gliding, but in a safe environment, the Sea Breeze is the first Rollglider on a cruise ship and takes guests high up to enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and the stunning ports of call.
  • Coastal Climb – In this climbing structure, visitors ascend from decks 19 to 20 through a series of obstacles.
  • The Lookout – Adventurers head to The Lookout outdoor observation deck to enjoy 360º views from the highest point available to passengers on board the Sun Princess.
  • The Net – Attached by a harness above deck 19, guests face the challenge of crossing unstable bridges.
  • Infinite horizon – For lovers of heights, the sloping walls cantilever over the side of the ship.
  • Hammock Area – Relaxing hammocks allow Park19 visitors to unwind after adventures and spend time with family and friends.
  • Splash Zone – An aquatic zone with jets and a beautiful water sculpture offers a refreshing area to completely relax.
  • Recreational court – Guests will be offered a rotation of sports and wellness options on this multifunctional sports court.
  • Jogging track – An outdoor track allows guests to walk 6.7 laps of the track, which is equivalent to one mile.

The youth and teen centers located on decks six and seven offer additional options for families aboard the Sun Princess, with plenty of activities and areas suitable for children from six months to 17 years old. These complimentary areas include:

  • Firefly Park – For Princess's youngest guests, this imaginative space, located on deck six, invites children from six months to seven years old and their families to explore, play, and socialize. Babysitting is available from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for $5 per hour for children ages 3 to 12.
  • Neon Grove (tweens) and The Underground (teens) – Located on deck seven, two separate areas offer a welcoming space for tweens and teens to hang out, socialize and just have fun.

“These expanded offerings give younger cruisers so much to explore and enjoy on board the Sun Princess, creating an even more family-friendly experience with something for everyone, regardless of age,” Padgett added.

Like all Princess ships, Sun Princess is a MedallionClass ship that helps families stay connected on board through the shipmate locator and chat function, along with Wi-Fi at sea.

Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyards in Italy, the 175,500-ton, 4,300-guest Sun Princess will offer a wide variety of exciting new dining, entertainment and activity options, as well as luxurious cabins and suites in a wide range of categories.
