The cutting ceremony for Luminara, the new cruise ship from The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, was held at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
This will be the company's third yacht and second newly built vessel, which is expected to begin operations in 2025. The cruise line ordered two LNG-powered ships from Chantiers de l'Atlantique in March of last year, and Chantiers de l'Atlantique laid the keel of the first LNG-powered vessel of this batch, the Ilma, on March 22. The Ilma is expected to embark on its maiden voyage in 2024.
The Luminara, with 224 suites and capacity for 448 guests, will be a reflection of its sister yacht Ilma, whose debut is planned for 2024. The onboard experience will include, among other things, multiple dining options, an exclusive spa and a marina with direct access to the sea.
Designed with technologies to minimize ecological impact, it will feature four dual-fuel engines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the main fuel source.
Luminara will join the Ilma and the Evrima on itineraries through the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
