In 2023, the Italian company will offer two special cruises in collaboration with APEI (Association of Ambassadors of Italian Pastry Excellence) to discover the art of pastry-making with its master pastry chefs. The cruises will take place in the Mediterranean aboard the Costa Toscana from June 9 to 16 and aboard the Costa Fascinosa from October 21 to 31.
The collaboration between Costa Cruises and APEI (the association that brings together the Ambassadors of Italian Pastry Excellence, headed by the Master of Masters Iginio Massari) continues, with the aim of bringing the best of pastry art to the world.
The first event cruise is scheduled for June 9-16 aboard the flagship Costa Toscana, during a week-long Mediterranean itinerary. Iginio Massari and the other APEI pastry chefs will be on board, offering guests daily pastry workshops. Departing from Genoa, the cruise will visit some of the most beautiful destinations in Italy, France, and Spain, including Marseille, Barcelona, Cagliari, Naples, and Rome.
The second event planned for 2023 is the new edition of “Panettone senza confini” (Panettone Without Borders), which for the third consecutive year will take place aboard a Costa ship. From October 21 to 31, the Costa Fascinosa will host the challenge dedicated to Italy's most iconic dessert, in which 15 pastry shops from around the world will compete. The 10-day itinerary, departing from and returning to Savona, will include stops in Marseille, Málaga, Cádiz, Lisbon, Gibraltar, and Valencia.
The cruise will allow guests to sample panettone in various forms: traditional and chocolate, as well as in ice cream and plated desserts. Cruise passengers will also be the stars of the challenge, invited to vote for the best chocolate panettone. The best traditional panettone, meanwhile, will be judged by a panel of APEI Masters, chaired by Iginio Massari.
