TheBalearic Wharf at the Port of Tarragona welcomed three cruise ships simultaneously for the second time. These were the MSC Magnifica from MSC Cruises, the Costa Firenze from Costa Cruise Lines, and the World Navigator from Atlas Ocean Voyages.
The three cruise ships arrived in Tarragona waters between 7 and 9 a.m. and all three set sail for different destinations between 6 and 7 p.m. yesterday, Sunday.
This is the first time Atlas Ocean Voyages has stopped in Tarragona, while the other two shipping companies – MSC Cruises and Costa – have visited Port Tarragona before, although this time with ships that are arriving in Tarragona for the first time.
The director of the Port Tarragona Business Department, Genoveva Climent, presented a plaque to the cruise ship captains, a custom carried out to welcome all cruise ship personnel docking at Port Tarragona for the first time.
The MSC Magnifica was the first ship to arrive at the Balearic Wharf around 7:00 AM, having sailed from Valencia. It departed around 6:00 PM bound for Toulon, France. The ship, measuring 294 meters in length and 32.2 meters in beam, has a capacity of up to 3,223 passengers and was built in 2009.
The second ship to arrive at the Port of Tarragona, specifically at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 7th, was the cruise ship World Navigator, which remained in Tarragona until 6:00 p.m. The luxury yacht is 126 meters long and is part of a series of seven ships built with reinforced steel to navigate icy seas.
The third ship to arrive, around 9:00 AM, was the Costa Firenze, from the Costa Cruise Lines company. This cruise ship is calling at Port Tarragona for the first time, although the Port has had previous business dealings with this company. The Costa Firenze arrived from Ajaccio, Corsica, and departed at 7:00 PM bound for Cádiz. It is a new ship, built in 2020, with a capacity for approximately 5,200 passengers, a length of 324 meters, and a beam of 37.2 meters.
