The Port of Bilbao is hosting the first Turn Around cruise of the year in a month that will see twenty cruise ships call at the port. The start of the 2023 season is building on the excellent cruise traffic figures achieved by the Port of Bilbao last year.
The month begins with the arrival on May 1st of the Oceania cruise ship 'Sirena,' the first of two Turn Around cruises scheduled for this year. Its round trip to Jerusalem will begin and end in Getxo. After circumnavigating the Iberian Peninsula, this 181-meter-long cruise ship will stop at some of the most iconic locations on the Mediterranean coast: Saint-Tropez in France; Florence, Rome, Amalfi, and Catania in Italy; Athens, Santorini, and Rhodes in Greece; Alanya in Turkey; and Limassol in Cyprus. It will return to Getxo on May 27th.
The 'Sirena' coincided with the 'Norwegian Star', a vessel with a capacity for 3,000 passengers that made a stop before continuing its journey to Le Verdon in France.
On May 9th, two cruise ships will also be in port: the Celebrity Silhouette from Celebrity Cruises and the Silver Dawn from Silver Cruises, which will be making its first stop in Bilbao. The following day, the Sky Princess from Princess Cruises (Carnival) will return, a regular visitor to the port that inaugurated the season on April 12th and will return twice more this year.
In total, 20 ships are scheduled to call at Getxo in May,
represented by companies such as A. Pérez y Cía; Bergé; Incargo; Marmedsa; and Transcoma. Among them are
the iconic 'The World' from Residences at Sea, with a capacity for 200
passengers and an overnight stay; the impressive 'Anthem of the Seas' from Royal Caribbean
International, measuring 348 meters in length and with a capacity for 4,905 cruise passengers; and the 'SH Vega'
from Swan Hellenic, the 'Ambition' from Ambassador, and the 'Riviera' from Oceania, some of
which will be making their first call at the Port of Bilbao.
