About to be transferred to Marella Cruises, the Mein Schiff Herz embarks on its final cruise before being handed over to Marella Cruises. The ten-day itinerary, departing from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, includes visits to eight Spanish ports, Morocco, Portugal, and Gibraltar.
Shortly after the cruise ends, the ship will set sail for Cádiz, where it will be transformed into the Marella Voyager of Marella Cruises during a 42-day refurbishment at the Navantia shipyards. There, it will receive all the signature features of the British company. The new Marella Voyager will also be equipped with new bars and restaurants, including a "secret" Speakeasy bar and Abuela's, a new Mexican restaurant.
Following its refurbishment, the Marella Voyager will set sail on its maiden voyage on June 3rd and spend its inaugural season in the Western Mediterranean. Itineraries include visits to Barcelona and Naples, as well as some less common cruise destinations such as Palamós, San Rafael, Calvi, and Piombino.
In October, the ship will move to the Caribbean to carry out a series of week-long itineraries departing from Barbados.
Originally built for Celebrity Cruises, the Mein Schiff Herz entered service in 1997 as the Mercury and spent nearly 15 years sailing for the brand before being transferred to TUI Cruises. The ship initially sailed for TUI Cruises as the Mein Schiff 2 before receiving its current name in 2019.
