On March 6th, the cruise industry celebrated the 16th edition of the Excellence Cruise Awards, the first and only awards specializing in the industry in Spain, presented by Cruises News Media Group based on votes from cruise passengers and travel agencies. For the seventh consecutive year, Costa Cruises received three awards, becoming one of the main protagonists of the event held at the Tenerife Auditorium.

This year, Costa Cruises has launched a new way of traveling for Spaniards, prioritizing service in our language, local cuisine, and entertainment. All of this aligns with their commitment to more sustainable development.
Thanks to its product innovation and responsible development, the Italian shipping company has been awarded in three categories during the Excellence Awards: “Best Shipping Company for First Cruises”, “Best Value for Money”, and “Sustainability Excellence”.
- “Best Cruise Line for First-Time Cruisers.” Costa Cruises highlights the enhancement of “Spanish Flavor,” where the cruise line has developed an experience in which Spanish cruisers are served in their own language, enjoy a wide variety of traditional cuisine, and are entertained by famous Spanish comedians.
- “Best Value for Money.” Costa Cruises always enhances the cruise product so that the perceived benefit for the consumer is the highest possible, both on board and ashore, thanks to elements that combine high-quality cuisine with longer excursions to discover the “hidden gems” of the destinations it visits.
- “Excellence in Sustainability.” This award recognizes Costa Cruises to sustainable development and collaboration with the communities in which it operates through two specific high-impact projects:
-
- On the one hand, the resumption of its donation project to the Food Bank. This project is part of Costa's Food Assistance Program, through which more than 1.1 million meals have been distributed to people in need in 15 destinations hosted by our ships.
- On the other hand, there is the financial support from the Costa Crociere Foundation for Ángel León's marine cereal cultivation project. A "superfood" with great nutritional properties.
In the words of Luigi Stefanelli, Managing Director of Costa Cruises for Spain, France, and Portugal: “It is an honor and a source of pride for us to receive these awards, as they confirm that we are sailing in the right direction and that the future of our industry is marked by excellence in service and sustainable development. These awards motivate us to continue working and offering a completely new and personalized way to experience cruises and discover unique destinations around the world.”
