Tenerife is hosting the prestigious Excellence Cruise Awards this year, a benchmark in the international cruise industry, in a celebration that will take place next Monday, March 6, at the Tenerife Auditorium, through a grand awards gala.
The ceremony will bring together top executives from cruise shipping companies, shipping agents, cruise tour operators, ports and destinations, travel agents, press, collaborators, professionals and businesspeople from Tenerife and other suppliers in the sector, who will enjoy a unique gala at the Tenerife Auditorium followed by a cocktail dinner.
During the past months of November and December 2022, the five cruise ports managed by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife received a similar number of cruise passengers to that of the same months of 2019, before the pandemic.
For 2023, the forecast anticipates approximately 290 port calls in the first four months of the year, rising to 550 calls for the entire year. Broken down by port, the expected calls are as follows: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 307; Santa Cruz de la Palma, 139; San Sebastián de La Gomera, 86; La Estaca, 14; and Los Cristianos, 4.
The winners of the Cruise Excellence Awards are chosen by cruise passengers and travel agencies through online voting, which awards 16 categories including the best ships, the best gastronomy, the best itinerary, or even the best onboard entertainment, among others.
This edition has been promoted and sponsored by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in collaboration with other public and private organizations such as State Ports, Canary Islands Tourism, Tenerife Island Council, Tenerife Tourism, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, La Palma Island Council, El Hierro Island Council, La Gomera Island Council, Fred Olsen Shipping Solutions, Cepsa, Canary Islands Ports and Cruises Atlantic Islands.
