NASA scientist Kathy Sullivan has been named godmother of Scenic's new ultra-luxury Discovery yacht, the Scenic Eclipse II. Recognized as a true pioneer in her field, the American geologist and oceanographer is the perfect person to assume the prestigious role of godmother. She will officially christen the Scenic Eclipse II at a ceremony in Málaga, Spain, on June 3, 2023.

The Scenic Eclipse II will join the Discovery Yacht fleet in mid-April 2023 and will be christened in June 2023, after a series of immersive voyages exploring the enchanting ports and villages of the Mediterranean, which larger ships cannot access.
Dr. Sullivan is one of the world's leading scientists with an incredible career in research and exploration. Among her achievements are her participation as a crew member on three space shuttle missions, including being the first American woman to walk in space for NASA and helping to launch the Hubble Space Telescope; and being the first woman to dive to the depths of the Challenger in the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of Earth's oceans. She also holds three Guinness World Records for her pioneering explorations.
The 168m/228 passenger Scenic Eclipse II is small enough to access ports and coves otherwise inaccessible to traditional cruise ships and boasts its own helicopters and submarine to offer guests unparalleled access to nature during voyages.
