SunStone Maritime Group has received two Infinity class vessels - Ocean Odyssey and Sylvia Earle - from the China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) shipyard in Haimen, China.
The ships are the fourth and fifth to be delivered in the Infinity series, joining the Greg Mortimer, Ocean Explorer, and Ocean Victory. SunStone will charter the Ocean Odyssey to Vantage Deluxe World Travel and the Sylvia Earle to Aurora Expeditions for year-round service.
The Infinity series fleet consists of ice-class 1A and polar code 6 expedition cruise ships, built with safe return-to-port systems, dynamic positioning, and zero-speed stabilizers. Ulstein Design & Solutions' X-Bow solution makes the ships small enough to access hard-to-reach locations, yet large enough to offer leisure facilities such as a swimming pool, spa, gym, and bars and restaurants.
The Infinity class ships are 104 meters long and 18 meters wide, and offer capacity for 130-220 passengers and 85-115 crew members.
SunStone has collaborated closely with Tomas Tillberg Design to create warm and comfortable interiors on board all Infinity class vessels, following the specifications of each charterer.
SunStone will receive its next Infinity-class vessel, the Ocean Albatross, in March 2023.
