Actress Cassidy Gifford will be the godmother of their new ship, the Carnival Celebration, at the ceremony that will take place on November 20, 2022 in Miami.
Actress Cassidy Gifford will be the godmother of her new ship, the Carnival Celebration. She was surprised with the news by her mother, Kathie Lee Gifford, who was the godmother of the Carnival Celebration's namesake, the M/S Celebration.
In a video, her mother, Kathie Lee Gifford, who was also godmother to the M/S Celebration christened in 1987, surprised her with the news. Her mother was a spokesperson for Carnival in the company's television campaigns in the 1980s, as well as a four-time Emmy Award-winning television personality. Cassidy began sailing with Carnival as a child and has many childhood memories of vacationing on Carnival ships with her mother and father.
“Carnival Cruise Line has been an important part of our family, and my earliest memories are of family trips on Carnival ships,” said Cassidy Gifford. “And now, to be asked to be the godmother of the ship that bears the same name my mother christened is a true honor and a blessing. There was no hesitation when my mother asked me, and I can’t wait to see this incredible ship in Miami this November.”
“I was a spokesperson for Carnival for almost 20 years, starting in 1984, around the time I got married and had my children. They accompanied me on many television shoots on Carnival ships, so we have many wonderful memories,” said Kathie Lee Gifford.
“Since our founding in 1972, Carnival Cruise Line has transported generations of guests and helped millions of families create lasting vacation memories,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with another generation of the Gifford family and are honored that Cassidy is the ship’s godmother.”.
