Following its historic debut in Reykjavik, Iceland, the next episode of “EMBARK” showcases the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional cruise dining by presenting the ultimate showdown between NCL’s talented chefs. Hosted by Norwegian Prima Cruise Director Simon Akinwolere and NCL Senior Director of Culinary Development and Operations Christian Pratsch, this episode gives viewers a front-row seat to this high-stakes culinary showdown, as each chef rises to the challenge, putting their culinary skills to the test and sharpening their knives to prepare three creative dishes for the judges. Only one winner will be crowned, who will have the honor of having their dish tasted by thousands of NCL guests worldwide.

“We have a reputation for offering the finest cuisine at sea,” said Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line. “In fact, we are investing heavily in our culinary experience, so what better way to unleash creativity than with a friendly competition among our talented chefs?” Sommer continued, noting that “The Great Cruise Cookoff” invites viewers into the culinary world and offers them a behind-the-scenes look. “I can’t wait for our guests to see, smell, and taste the winning dish.”.

In “The Great Cruise Cookoff,” Corporate Executive Chef Michael Koertgen, Director of Culinary Operations Eric Bilodeau, and Corporate Executive Chef Didier Lailheugue have 60 minutes to prepare three surprising dishes using three different ingredients. Once time is up, the chefs will present their dishes for judging, and the winning chef of the first Great Cruise Cookoff will be chosen.

NCL maintains its reputation for delivering the highest level of cuisine at sea through innovative dining concepts with each new ship, the most recent being the Norwegian Prima, which boasts 18 onboard dining options, including the debut of Palomar, an upscale Mediterranean-style restaurant, Nama, a contemporary sushi house, and the brand's first Indulge Food Hall, which features 11 restaurants.

The Company is making a significant investment in food and beverages to elevate the guest experience through globally sourced, high-quality products, increased staffing to provide even more exceptional service, and new main dining room menus that debuted aboard Norwegian Prima. This episode of EMBARK with NCL further showcases the Company's commitment to offering the finest cuisine at sea, unleashing the creativity of its chefs through a fun competition.
