Norwegian Cruise Line welcomes its newest ship, the Norwegian Prima, to Marghera, Venice, at the Fincantieri shipyard. It is the first ship in NCL's Prima Class, which will feature six new ships to be built at the Italian Fincantieri shipyard until 2027.

The event was attended by Frank Del Rio, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd; Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line; Luigi Matarazzo, managing director of Fincantieri's Merchant Ship Division; as well as other prominent executives from NCLH and Fincantieri. The handover ceremony was followed by the traditional flag exchange.
Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, said, “Today we begin an exciting new era in the world of cruising with the delivery of Norwegian Prima, the highly anticipated first ship in our new Prima Class. It is a true testament to our ‘Guest First’ philosophy and our commitment to providing unforgettable experiences that exceed expectations. We can’t wait to welcome our guests aboard.”.
Measuring 294 meters in length, with a gross tonnage of 142,500 and a capacity for 3,100 guests, the Norwegian Prima is designed with guests as its priority. It boasts spacious areas, a striking and sophisticated design, and a variety of signature brand and industry experiences.
The new ship offers the most open deck space and spacious accommodations of any newly built ship.
Inside, the centerpiece is the Penrose Atrium, main restaurants, new food and drink outlets, and new features also in the private suite area, The Haven.

Its variety of experiences includes the brand's first outdoor food hall, Indulge Food Hall; the largest and first three-level racetrack at sea at Prima Speedway, as well as The Drop, the world's first dry free-fall water slide.

Other highlights on board include the Ocean Boulevard, which surrounds the entire deck; Infinity Beach, which features two stunning infinity pools located near water level; and Oceanwalk, where two glass bridges make guests feel as if they are walking on air above the water.
An oasis for art lovers, the Norwegian Prima will feature The Concourse, the first open-air sculpture garden at sea, with six installations created by international metal artist Alexander Krivosheiw and an art wall designed by David Harber. The Norwegian Prima will have the cruise line's first open-air sculpture garden, as well as $6 million worth of artwork on board, including a collection of NFT pieces that guests can view online before, during, and after their voyage.

There are some exciting new features on board that will truly surprise regular guests. Among them is a completely redesigned theater with three levels and a special seating configuration that can be converted into a flat space to become a nightclub. Entertainment is a key component of Norwegian Prima.

It will then sail to Bermuda, Caribbean itineraries, and Western Caribbean cruises before returning to Bermuda. Afterward, it will offer cruises to Northern Europe.
