The Board of Directors of the Port Authority has decided to grant three public domain concessions to Global Ports Canary Islands SL for the management and conditioning of two public cruise passenger terminals in the ports of Arrecife (two, in Naos and Los Mármoles) and Puerto del Rosario.
These concessions complete the renewal of specific port services for this sector, which includes the new Las Palmas terminal (at the Santa Catalina dock) whose construction will begin this summer.
The president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, highlights the value of this strategic development for the ports of Las Palmas, but also for the other cruise enclaves in the Macaronesian area that are part of the winter itineraries and that are grouped under the Cruises Atlantic Islands brand.
The Board of Directors today agreed to grant Global Ports Canary Islands SL a concession to occupy a 759.39 square meter area of port public domain, including 426 square meters of constructed facilities, located on the Muelle de Los Mármoles, Functional Area 4 of the Arrecife Port service zone, Lanzarote, for use as a public cruise passenger terminal. The preliminary project has a 10-month execution period and a budget of €1,013,113.93.
It was also agreed to grant the same entity a concession to occupy a 1,881.85 square meter area of port public domain, located at the Naos Cruise Terminal, Functional Area 6 of the Arrecife Port service zone, Lanzarote, for the same purpose. The basic project has a 12-month execution period and a budget of €2,396,389.78.
Furthermore, the Board of Directors agreed to grant the same entity a concession to occupy a 1,319.51 square meter area of port public domain, including facilities, located in the Cruise Ship Wharf of the Port of Puerto del Rosario, Functional Areas 6 and 7 (437.47 square meters in Functional Area 6 and 882.04 square meters in Functional Area 7), within the service area of the Port of Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, for use as a public cruise passenger terminal. The preliminary project establishes a 10-month execution period and a budget of €1,003,411.77.
OPS at the Big Pier
The Board of Directors has approved the opening of the bidding process for the works for the electrical supply project to ships at Muelle Grande, in the Port of Las Palmas.
The Port Authority of Las Palmas is planning a pilot project for the design, analysis and installation of electromechanical equipment for OPS (Onshore Power Supply) operations, which involves connecting the ship directly to the electrical grid on land by turning off its auxiliary engines during docking.
This Project, coordinated by the State Ports Authority (OPPE) and integrated within the National Action Framework for the development of infrastructure for the use of alternative fuels in the transport sector, has been co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program for the construction of the RET-T of the European Union.
It has also agreed to delegate to the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas the power to approve the file and open the procedure for awarding the works contract for the execution of the project of 'Expansion of Naos Dock (Arrecife, Lanzarote)', the same being conditional upon the granting of the authorization issued by the State Secretariat for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing.
In this same sense, to delegate to the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas the power to approve the file and open the procedure for awarding the works contract for the execution of the project of 'New border facilities for the control of goods (IFCM) in the Port of Las Palmas'.
