Explora Journeys, the new luxury cruise brand of the MSC Group, has celebrated the laying of the keel of EXPLORA II, the second of its four ships, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy.
The 63,900 GT vessel will be completed by summer 2024. The company's first cruise ship, EXPLORA I, is also under construction under the direction of Fincantieri, at its shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, and will be ready to receive passengers in May 2023.
The event was held today in Castellammare di Stabia, and was attended by executives from Explora of the construction company.
“This exciting milestone for Explora Journeys demonstrates our firm commitment to developing a new way of experiencing luxury travel, one that takes sustainability into account through effective planning and maximizes the socio-economic benefits for the communities our ships visit. Our goal is to have a positive impact on future generations,” commented Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys.
The new ship, EXPLORA II, will feature 461 suites, residences and penthouses with ocean views, nine restaurants, ten indoor and outdoor bars and lounges, four swimming pools, ample deck space with private cabanas, a spa and a novel entertainment offering.
The four ships in the Explora Journeys fleet will be equipped with the latest maritime and environmental technologies.
