Valenciaport and the Valencia Provincial Council are committed to adapting the inland tourism offerings to the needs of cruise ship passengers

The Port Authority of Valencia and the Provincial Council of Valencia are preparing a plan to boost cruise tourism in the inland regions and municipalities of the province that wish to attract these tourists who dock throughout the year at the Port of Valencia. The goal is for more municipalities across the province to leverage their tourism potential based on experiences, nature, sustainability, heritage, and gastronomy to attract the thousands of visitors who arrive at the Port of Valencia's docks each year.

Valenciaport has showcased this new tourism offering for the Valencia destination at Seatrade Cruise Global, the world's leading cruise industry trade fair, currently taking place in Miami. The Port of Valencia is presenting a diversified range of services at this event, tailored to the needs of cruise passengers and cruise lines. This sector generates over €70 million annually in Valencia and the surrounding area, according to the latest study on the industry's impact, conducted by the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Valenciaport Foundation.

The Port Authority of Valencia (APV) delegation, led by Francesca Antonelli, Head of Cruises and Marketing, is explaining this new offering in its meetings. In addition to the wide range of urban and rural activities, new options are being added for outdoor enthusiasts, sports lovers, and hikers, as well as more sustainable choices such as bike and skateboard tours. Furthermore, the gastronomic, cultural, wine, musical, and historical experiences that make Valencia a multifaceted and diverse destination are being promoted, facilitating travel and preventing overcrowding.

In the designed Plan, specialists from the port of Valencia will train technicians and economic agents from the inland regions and municipalities of the province to adapt to the excursion packages for cruise passengers.

The Port of Valencia has established itself as a destination for specialized cruise lines, catering to both families arriving on large cruise ships and those catering to premium visitors docking at its piers in smaller luxury vessels. Consequently, the range of excursions is being expanded, adding options for outdoor enthusiasts, sports lovers, and hikers to the already wide array of city tours. Thus, in addition to the various options for exploring Valencia itself and visiting its museums, the Silk Road, the Fallas festival, the Holy Grail, the City of Arts and Sciences, the beaches, and the Albufera lagoon, excursions are now available to towns such as Sagunto, Requena, Xàtiva, Alboraya, Manises, Tabernes Blanques, Meliana, and Vall d'Uixó, among others.

The cruise passenger who visits the province of Valencia is someone who loves gastronomy, crafts, the environment and the unique aspects of Valencian life, preferences that they find in the Valencian Community.
