The Minister for Trade, Tourism and the Port welcomed the Scenic Eclipse on its maiden call in Gibraltar. The vessel arrived in the Port of Gibraltar on Wednesday, April 20, at 1:00 p.m. and departed that same evening at 7:00 p.m.
The Scenic Eclipse is the first ocean-going cruise ship from the Australian company Scenic Group, usually known for its luxury voyages and river cruises. The ship has a maximum capacity of 228 passengers and on this occasion carried a total of 156 passengers and 166 crew members.
Minister Daryanani participated in the traditional plaque exchange with Captain Ewarn at the Gibraltar Cruise Terminal.
Minister Daryanani said: “It’s fantastic that the Scenic Eclipse is visiting our port for the first time. This is the third inaugural call this month. I’m delighted to see the rapid recovery we’re experiencing with cruise ship calls. It demonstrates the popularity of the destination and the results of the work the Government is doing to revive this sector. I will continue to work energetically to grow the cruise industry, as I know how important it is to our economy.”.
