Swan Hellenic has announced that construction of its third and largest new-generation yacht is progressing smoothly at the Helsinki shipyard, with more than half of the structure already assembled and all but two blocks delivered. The announcement was capped off with the unveiling of its name – SH Diana – in classic Swan Hellenic fashion.
The sleek new ship is a next-generation polar expedition vessel, designed for worldwide cruises with a strong focus on high-latitude regions. The SH Diana will feature a 4.6-megawatt hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system with selective catalytic reduction and a PC 6 ice-strengthened hull certified for safe return to port. Despite being the largest ship in the Swan Hellenic fleet, this 125-meter (300 ft) expedition vessel, with a gross tonnage (12,100 GRT), has been specially designed for global cruising and exploring the most inspiring and inaccessible places on the planet.
Offering panoramic 5-star accommodation for 192 guests in 96 spacious cabins and suites, most with large balconies, the SH Diana will be operated by a team of 141 onboard staff to provide exceptional personal service. State-of-the-art hygiene technology will protect the health of everyone onboard to the highest standards, including air conditioning with UV sanitization systems.
The onboard amenities, designed to offer immersive experiences and expansive views, include a swimming pool, spa, panoramic sauna, fitness center, library, expedition lab, and a conference room for expedition guides and leading experts from a wide range of disciplines. First-class gourmet cuisine, local specialties, and healthy options will be offered in the panoramic restaurant, club lounge, and poolside bar, as well as through room service.
Furthermore, the SH Diana builds upon the exceptional facilities of its sister ships, offering a Multifunctional Lounge, a Private Dining Room for special occasions, additional suites, and two tenders, providing guests with a comfortable alternative to Zodiacs for shore excursions. Day trips are a central feature of the programs offered, along with kayaking, hiking, and other activities.
The SH Diana, named after the Roman goddess of light, the moon, hunting and nature, will take the Swan Hellenic back to its roots when it sets sail in early 2023, exploring the Mediterranean and its famous sites of antiquity.
