From April to December, CroisiEurope's Zimbabwean Dream joins its sister ship, the African Dream, to operate safari cruises in southern Africa, plus a new itinerary in South Africa.
Before embarking on a cruise on Lake Kariba, located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, passengers will stay for three nights at either the Cascades Lodge or the Kaza Luxury Lodges, part of the CroisiEurope group. The Kaza Luxury Lodges comprises eight 80-square-meter bungalows, decorated in a traditional African style, situated on the banks of a tributary of the Zambezi River on a private island accessible by boat. Each bungalow features a private pool and terrace.
From there, passengers can visit Chobe National Park, near the Okavango Delta, and its wildlife reserves as part of the daily land and water safaris/excursions on the Chobe River.
A private flight takes passengers to the ship for a three-night cruise on Lake Kariba, where excursions are offered, including safari options. Among them is a trip to Matusadona National Park, located on the lake's southern shore, home to elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and a rich variety of birds.
The trip concludes with a visit to the Kariba Dam, which forms Lake Kariba, and a flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, which can be visited on foot or by helicopter.
The company also offers a new nine-day South Africa itinerary, starting in Johannesburg and including city tours and a stay in a 5-star hotel. An extended 13-day option includes four days in Cape Town before the cruise, with excursions to the Cape Peninsula.
The Zimbabwean Dream was built in Harare, Zimbabwe's capital, in 2020, inspired by local and traditional construction techniques. It measures 33 meters in length and eight meters in beam, accommodates 16 passengers and a crew of 10, and features a luminous African-themed décor.
Its main deck features eight 17-square-meter cabins, each with its own French balcony; two of them—located forward—have a private terrace. The upper deck includes a panoramic lounge, a spacious observation deck, and a small swimming pool.
The regionally inspired cuisine mixed with European influences is served outdoors, and drinks are included with meals and at the bar.
