Spring is the start of one of the peak seasons for cruise tourism at the Port of Malaga. The port expects to receive a total of 96 cruise ship calls between March and June, thus consolidating pre-pandemic figures. Passenger traffic will not yet be at full capacity, as ships are not yet operating at maximum capacity due to the measures implemented, although a full reactivation is expected throughout the year.
Luxury and premium cruise traffic, which has gained significant momentum in the Port in recent years, is maintaining its figures this season, as most of the 8 scheduled port calls between April and June belong to these exclusive companies, mainly Star Clippers and Silver Seas Cruises.
A total of 19 cruise ships will visit the Port of Malaga for the first time during the spring, exceeding the number of such calls in relation to the same period in 2019.
One of the most important milestones will be the first port of call for the 'Wonder of the Seas': Royal Caribbean International has chosen Málaga as its first European port of call, coming from the Caribbean, before heading into the Mediterranean. The scheduled date is April 30th.
Other companies already established in the port area, such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival and AIDA Cruises, as well as shipping companies dedicated to more exclusive tourism, will dock for the first time at the Malaga docks.
For the first time since 2019, five cruise ships are expected to coincide in the Port of Malaga on April 28th; three Ponant ships will dock at the port on the same day.
