His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler's representative in the Al Dhafra region, today inaugurated the AD Ports Group cruise pier on Sir Bani Yas. The new pier will allow two ships to dock simultaneously, enabling more than 5,000 passengers to embark and disembark at a faster pace on Sir Bani Yas Island.

The inauguration took place with the MSC Virtuosa docked at Sir Bani Yas Island as part of the ship's regular 7-night cruises around the Arabian Gulf.
Developed by AD Ports Group, Sir Bani Yas's cruise beach is the first and only beach of its kind in the region, offering visitors a blend of relaxation and adventure. Previously, cruise ships anchored one kilometer offshore, and visitors were transported to the beach by tenders. The new pier will significantly increase the island's visitor capacity, reduce travel time to and from the ship, and enhance the overall cruise passenger experience.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's representative in the Al Dhafra region, said: “Inspired by Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision and the Al Dhafra 2030 Plan, the opening of this new jetty is a milestone in Al Dhafra’s ambitious development plans. Economic diversification is fundamental to the Emirate’s long-term roadmap for progress.”.
Several of the world's leading cruise lines have resumed operations in Abu Dhabi, while visitors and guests from around the globe have begun arriving in the UAE capital. The Mein Schiff 6, a German-owned cruise ship operated by TUI, became the first cruise vessel to arrive at Abu Dhabi's cruise terminal in Zayed Port following the start of the current cruise season.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group's Cruise Division, said: “We welcome the opening of a new pier at the Sir Bani Yas cruise beach, a key development that will help operational efficiency at an increasingly popular stop on our Gulf itinerary.
“AD Ports Group’s commitment to leading the development of industry-leading facilities to support cruise activities will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of our popular and growing industry, while we at MSC Cruises seek to strengthen our own position as the sector’s market leader in the Gulf, deploying the most modern ships in what is a key region for us in our ambitious global growth program.
Located in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra region, Sir Bani Yas Cruise Beach is the gateway to one of the UAE's largest publicly accessible nature reserves. Rich in Emirati heritage and natural wonders, the island offers a unique experience to its visitors. AD Ports Group has been supporting the ongoing development of the Al Dhafra region. Its ports play a vital role in serving the local fishing industry, providing jobs for local communities, and facilitating the ongoing redevelopment of the surrounding islands.
