The newest member of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Wish, floated out today at the Meyer Werft shipyard's covered pier. The company celebrated the launch of Disney Cruise Line's newest ship with music and fireworks, and Minnie Mouse made an appearance at the special event.
It is the third ship that Meyer Werft is building for the world's largest entertainment company, after the Disney Fantasy (2012) and the Disney Dream (2010).
The Disney Wish will set new industry standards, including digital media, stage technology, and will be the first of Disney's three new ships to feature low-emission LNG propulsion.
The Disney Wish will make its maiden voyage on July 14 from Port Canaveral, Florida. This ship is the first of three new Disney Cruise Line vessels being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard through 2025. Each of the new ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and will weigh approximately 144,000 gross tons.
