Genoa, March 10, 2020. Following the new measures decreed last night by the Italian Government to contain the health emergency in Italy, Costa Cruises has rescheduled the itineraries of all its ships with stops in Italy until April 3.
“As an Italian company and the only cruise operator flying the Italian flag, we are committed to ensuring compliance with regulations and we support the Italian authorities and communities in the extraordinary effort they are making to deal with the current emergency situation,” said Neil Palomba, CEO of Costa Cruises.
Departures are suspended until April 3rd, with the exception of cruises currently operating. These cruises will only call at Italian ports to allow guests to disembark and return home; excursions and new embarkations will not be permitted. The company is informing all affected guests and travel agencies of these changes and will offer a voucher for a future cruise or a refund.
In recent days, Costa Cruises has been cancelling cruises for Italian guests who were scheduled to travel outside the Mediterranean in an effort to avoid risks, take precautions, and comply with specific measures issued by the Italian government.
The safety and health of all guests and crew members is Costa Cruises' top priority. Furthermore, the level of sanitization on board Costa ships has been further increased to ensure the highest level of hygiene and safety for guests and crew. The company has implemented rigorous pre-boarding medical screenings since the COVID-19 outbreak.
