Madrid, February 10, 2019 - BERGÉ, a leading logistics operator, reinforces its commitment to best practices in the cruise industry by awarding one of the 15 Excellence Awards, the benchmark awards for cruise tourism that each year recognize the companies that, according to the evaluation of the cruise passengers themselves, have had the best performance in the categories of best port, shipping company, entertainment, ship, crew, among others.

Thus, the award for best onboard entertainment will be presented to José Luis Carretero Palacios, Commercial Director of BERGÉ Cruises, at a ceremony to be held on February 13th at the Rosalía de Castro Theatre in A Coruña. The choice of this city is no coincidence, as it is one of the fastest-growing cruise tourism destinations, with over 100 port calls and approximately 200,000 passengers expected this year, making it the ideal location to host this event for the first time.
This new edition of the Excellence Awards, organized by Cruises News Media Group since 2008, is expected to be attended by 300 professionals from the cruise industry, including national executives from major shipping companies, ports, auxiliary industries, tourism services, travel agencies, tour operators, public administrations, press, promotional entities and cruise users.
Spain is the second most important country in Europe for this industry, receiving 3 million visitors annually. Within this context, BERGÉ manages 16% of the cruise ships that arrive in Spain each year, approximately 700 cruises with over 1 million passengers on board. BERGÉ's competitive advantage in the sector lies in being the only company in Spain that provides a comprehensive service, offering support to both shipowners and major cruise lines in logistics and stowage of provisions, agency and auxiliary services (customs management, as well as assistance to passengers and crew in terms of mobility, accommodations, and baggage handling), and provisioning.
