Following the recent incident in the Port of Venice on Sunday, June 2, the MSC Opera required repairs. Although these were completed on Monday, the ship is currently awaiting the conclusion of the investigation being carried out by the authorities.
As this process is taking a few days longer than originally expected, and the company knows that the ship will not be able to leave in time for its next cruise, it has had to make the decision to cancel the next cruise departing from Bari on June 8 and from Venice on June 9.
The MSC Opera was scheduled to receive 2,451 passengers from 53 countries. MSC Cruises has informed its passengers and partners and is offering numerous alternatives, including a full refund of the cruise fare and expenses incurred, as well as any prepaid services. In addition, it is offering a 50% discount on a future cruise of 7 to 21 nights before the end of 2020.
