Next Sunday, May 26, Costa Cruises will inaugurate its season from Tarragona for the third consecutive year. The itinerary from the Catalan city will be operated by the Costa Fortuna, with which the company will increase its capacity by 45% compared to last year. The ship, which will call at the city 19 times between May 26 and October 13, will allow up to 65,000 passengers to embark or stop in Tarragona.
The Italian cruise line first arrived in Tarragona in 2017 with the Costa neoRiviera – carrying 1,800 passengers. Since then, thanks to the excellent reception of the itinerary among Costa customers, the company has gradually increased its capacity in the region, operating with the Costa Victoria in 2018 – with a capacity for 2,394 passengers – and with the Costa Fortuna this season – with a capacity for 3,470 guests.
The Costa Fortuna, measuring 272 meters in length, with a tonnage of 103,000 and a total of 1,358 cabins, has recently undergone a refurbishment in Singapore shipyards, representing an investment of over 8 million euros for the company. The ship will arrive in Tarragona next Sunday, May 26, at 8:00 a.m. for a stop of approximately 12 hours. During this time, more than 4,000 people, including over 3,000 passengers and 1,000 crew members, will be able to disembark in the city to explore its cultural, gastronomic, and leisure attractions.
This ship will sail the "Rhythm of the Balearic Islands" itinerary, departing from the port of Tarragona. This route will allow travelers to discover other destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Olbia (Italy), Genoa, and Tarragona. In addition, this itinerary offers "Fun & Beach," a cruise concept very popular with the company's guests, where fun, relaxation, and music take center stage.
