The Spirit of Discovery left the Meyer Werft assembly plant in Papenburg, Germany, last Sunday. It is the first of two units for the British shipping company Saga.
The ship is now afloat outside the assembly hall, sporting its funnel and distinctive colors. Various onboard systems will be tested over the next few days. The first crew members will board in the coming days, and the crossing via the Ems River to Emden is scheduled for the end of May.
With a length of 236 m and a beam of 31.2 m, this ship and its twin will have a gross tonnage of 58,250 GRT.
