(MONACO – January 18, 2019) On the 10th anniversary of its expedition cruises, Silversea continues to offer a wide range of experiences on its voyages to bring the authentic beauty of the world closer to you. From the frigid conditions of Antarctica to the warmer climates of Australia, in 2019 Silversea guests will explore more than 900 destinations – more than any other cruise line. Highlights of 2019 include a recent voyage to the remote waters of the 66th parallel south and a series of upcoming voyages in the spectacular Kimberley region.

As a testament to Silversea's commitment to providing unique and authentic experiences, Silver Cloud traveled to the Antarctic Circle and crossed the 66th parallel south. It was the ship's first voyage this far south. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to sail in these remote waters and were rewarded with a special "Red Nose" ceremony on the pool deck, a traditional initiation ritual performed upon reaching this point. Shortly afterward, a group of 98 guests participated in a polar dive, followed by several lectures and a Q&A session. Guests even spotted humpback whales as the ship sailed north, completing a truly wonderful day.
“You could feel the excitement building as we approached the imaginary line,” says Brooke Greene, a member of Silversea’s Expedition Team. “It was a special moment for everyone because most of the staff had never been below the Antarctic Circle, and it was certainly a first for all the guests. It made it even more special that it was also a first for the Silver Cloud.”
“Led by our industry-leading expedition team, who enhance the guest adventure, our Antarctic voyages are truly unique,” says Conrad Combrink, Silversea’s Vice President of Strategic Development. “Guests not only travel to the heart of the last continent, witnessing the iconic landmarks that define this incredible region, but they do so in ultimate comfort and with Silversea’s signature service.”.
Silver Discoverer , sailing in a distinctly different ecosystem than Silver Cloud, will allow guests to explore Australia's Kimberley Coast throughout 2019, showcasing its stunning landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and fascinating Aboriginal history, among other wonderful adventures. Offering truly immersive experiences in the region, Silversea guests will travel to King George Falls by Zodiac, getting close enough to feel the spray from the twin 80-meter waterfalls; witness Aboriginal rock art dating back more than 50,000 years; and discover spectacular wildlife, including the saltwater crocodile, rare bird species, and various reptiles. These and many other memorable experiences will ensure a once-in-a-lifetime voyage.
