2018 A year of celebrations for PONANT!
To mark its 30th anniversary, the French cruise company Ponant has planned a series of events. In 2018, two of the six new ships in the Ponant Explorers series, named after famous French explorers, were launched: Le Lapérousein July and Le Champlain in October. Le Bougainville, Le Bellot , and Le Dumont-d'Urville followed in 2019, and the first hybrid icebreaker powered by gas and electricity arrived in 2020. These new vessels join the existing fleet of L'Austral, Le Boreal, Le Soleal, and Le Lyryal, which, together with the aforementioned Le Ponant, comprise the world's most modern and extensive fleet of luxury expedition cruise ships.
