The first ICS Master Award was held during the 2017 International Cruise Summit in Madrid. A series of strategic questions related to the cruise industry were posed to delegates throughout the conference. Participation was voluntary, but many attendees wanted to demonstrate their knowledge by answering the questions using the app. A trophy was awarded to the person who gave the most correct answers, making them the first champion of the ICS Master Award.
James O. Stevens Zoontjens, Commercial Director of CEMESA, won the trophy after an exciting three-way tie resolved with an additional question.
Stevens holds a degree in Marine Navigation (2005) and is a Spanish Merchant Marine Captain (2013). He gained experience as a merchant marine officer and skipper before joining CEMESA as Baggage Operations Manager, where he has spent the last 12 years. He was recently appointed Commercial Director of the company, which provides services such as mooring, inflatable fenders, medical and legal services, as well as a wide range of ancillary services and baggage handling.
He is currently pursuing an MBA at the "European Business School of Barcelona", where he lives.
“It has been a really productive conference where I have learned a lot, and winning this award is a great honor, considering the high level of the participants,” Stevens said.
