Rome, December 28, 2017– Costa Cruises has set out to showcase the most unknown and fascinating corners of Italy. With this objective, the company has begun its collaboration with “I Borghi più belli d'Italia” (The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy), an association that seeks to promote Italian towns of significant historical and cultural interest, still largely unknown to the international public.
Thanks to this agreement, the company offers all guests stopping at an Italian port a selection of excursions to explore ten of the country's most charming towns. These are: Seborga and Montemarcello in Liguria, Arquà Petrarca in Veneto, Orvieto in Umbria, Civita di Bagnoregio in Lazio, Locorotondo in Puglia, Castiglione di Sicilia, Montalbano Elicona and Salemi in Sicily, and Atrani in Campania.
In designing these itineraries, Costa has taken into account the opinion of local institutions and has considered factors such as the proximity of the towns to the ports where the ships stop, the capacity of the towns to accommodate visitors, and the level of uniqueness for the tourist experience.
A truly Italian experience. With the aim of offering an authentic experience, various local representatives welcome passengers to the village and provide support in all the activities that take place in the town, thus ensuring that travelers get to know the destination thoroughly and enjoy a unique experience.
These excursions include tours designed to showcase the local cultural and historical heritage. Guides lead travelers to discover local history and traditions, as well as the crafts and cuisine of each region.
These excursions are now available at the stops that the Costa Diadema, Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa make in Savona, Civitavecchia, Palermo, Venice, Bari and Messina.
