Madrid, October 23, 2017 – MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately owned cruise line, headquartered in Switzerland and a leader in the sector in Europe and South America, today announced the start of sales for its second world cruise, which will depart in 2020. Sales begin today, October 23, for MSC Voyagers Club members and on November 16 for all other passengers.

MSC World Cruise 2020 features a new itinerary with more exotic and ambitious destinations than ever before, encompassing over 43 destinations in 23 countries. Passengers can not only fulfill their dream of traveling the world from the comfort of their cabin, but aboard MSC Magnifica, they can do so with the style and comfort exclusive to MSC Cruises.
MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato commented: “Following the huge success of our first MSC World Cruise launch last year, we are delighted to open sales for a new world cruise designed to offer passengers unforgettable destinations. Furthermore, the onboard experience of MSC Magnifica, one of the jewels of our fleet, has been designed to reflect the cultures and culinary traditions of the countries the ship visits, offering passengers the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in an authentic journey of discovery around the world, both onboard and ashore.”
Passengers, who can embark in Civitavecchia/Rome, Genoa, Marseille, and Barcelona on January 4, 5, 6, and 7, 2020, respectively, will cross five continents on a three-month journey, discovering some of the world's most famous destinations. To enhance the experience, eight of the destinations include an overnight stay in port, allowing passengers two days to enjoy the local charm, cuisine, and atmosphere.
The 43 destinations on the MSC World Cruise 2020 include a large number of new and exotic destinations, among which the following stand out:
- Ushuaia (Argentina): the southernmost city in the world. This Argentinian fishing village offers stunning seascapes alongside mountains that are usually snow-capped
- Rapa Nui (Easter Island): famous worldwide for its unique collection of carved stone statues dating back to the 13th century
- Darwin, Australia: Located in the far north of the country, this destination will allow passengers to experience the real Australia with its beaches, lagoons and local wildlife.
- Valparaíso, Chile, famous for its small, colorful houses on its coastal hills, passengers can contemplate spectacular views towards the Pacific or explore the city, in search of the best murals worthy of the best urban art.
- Mumbai/Bombay (India): The bustling city of Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay) offers interesting smells, tastes, and sights around every corner
- Salalah (Oman): A large number of waterfalls, exotic and lush flora and exotic animals make this destination an unforgettable place
MSC Cruises is renowned for its authentic shore excursions, offering passengers the chance to get up close and personal, discover new cultures, and visit unique destinations. The 2020 MSC World Cruise is no exception, and to help passengers make the most of their trip, the booking price includes 15 shore excursions. Additional excursions can also be booked in advance or during the cruise. Some of the highlights include:
- On the Isle of Pines (New Caledonia), visit "Turtle Bay" to see where the name comes from: passengers can swim near two different species of turtles and possibly also alongside other marine animals, such as rays, manta rays, sharks and dolphins
- In Aqaba (Petra), passengers will be able to visit the ancient city of Petra, located in the middle of the Jordanian desert, and pass through the narrow gorge that leads to the famous temple carved into the pink rock
- In Port Kelang (Kuala Lumpur), passengers will be able to visit the top floor of the Kuala Lumpur Tower, one of the most famous (and tallest) skyscrapers in the world: from there they will enjoy breathtaking views of the city and be able to take some spectacular photos.
Passengers on this long journey will also benefit from:
- A selection of beverages during meals at the restaurant and a 30% discount on all laundry services
