The 51st MedCruise General Assembly held in Toulon, France has elected Airam Díaz Pastor, Commercial Director of Ports of Tenerife, as the new President of the Association that represents ports and stakeholders related to the cruise business in the Mediterranean and its adjacent seas.
Airam Díaz Pastor has been Commercial Director of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife since 2011. He succeeds Kristijan Pavic, President of the Port Authority of Dubrovnik, who will continue to serve the Association as Honorary President. “I am very confident that MedCruise will continue to be the leading cruise port association. Representing more than 20% of global cruise traffic and with over 100 members in the Black Sea, the Red Sea, the Adriatic, the Mediterranean, and the Near Atlantic, we can all work together to face the new challenges in the cruise industry. To achieve this goal, MedCruise is strengthening its relationships with other European and international associations that are working together to create best practices and enjoy the sustainable growth of cruises, contributing to the prosperity of everyone involved in the cruise industry,” said Airam Díaz Pastor after the results were announced.
Airam Díaz Pastor continued, “I would like to thank the members of MedCruise for their confidence in electing me as President of the Association and I look forward to working with them, the Board of Directors and the Secretariat to achieve all the objectives that MedCruise has outlined during the 51st General Assembly.”.
Together with its president, MedCruise elected its Board of Directors for the 2017-2020 term. The new Board members are: Aris Batsoulis (Corfu), elected Senior Vice President; Laura Cimaglia (Brindisi), elected Vice President; Figen Ayan (Istanbul); Cherifa Ben Salem (Tunisian Ports); Maria Cano Olmos (Palamós); Cristina De Gregori (Genoa/Savona); Nicky Guerrero (Gibraltar); Valeria Mangiarotti (Sardinian Ports); Teodor Patrichi (Constanza); Theodora Riga (Piraeus); Carla Salvado (Kusadasi/Bodrum/Antalya); and Thrasos Stavridoupoulos (Volos)
During the meeting that took place the day after the announcement of the election results, the new Board of Directors decided that the MedCruise Secretariat would continue to carry out its tasks from the Association's Greek office in the Port of Piraeus and reappointed Thanos Pallis as the Association's Secretary General.
