Valencia, September 26, 2017 – Mar Chao López will be the new Commercial and Business Development Director of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV). This appointment follows an open selection process involving more than 20 highly experienced professionals from various countries.
A civil engineer specializing in roads, canals, and ports from the University of A Coruña and a law graduate from the Open University of Catalonia, Mar Chao López holds an MBA from the Caixanova Business School (now IESIDE) and has supplemented her education with numerous qualifications in maritime law and logistics. These include qualifications in Maritime Law and Port Management from the University of A Coruña; Maritime Transport and Port Management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid; Logistics Management from Lloyd's Academy London; and a qualification as a Freight and Passenger Transport Manager from the European Community. She speaks English, French, Galician, and Portuguese and currently teaches in the Master's Program in Logistics and Transport at the University of A Coruña.
Since beginning her career in 1991, Mar Chao López has worked in the logistics sector, both in the public and private sectors. Until now, she served as CEO of the Reyser Group. In the public sector, she has worked for the Port Authority of A Coruña as Head of the Service Provision Unit, and for the Port Authority of Vigo as Head of the Port Operations Division and Head of the Operations Department. Between December 2006 and March 2009, Chao held the position of Director General of Transport for the Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government of Galicia), serving as a board member of the Port Authority of Ferrol and as President of Portos de Galicia (Ports of Galicia).
