Silversea will premiere a new show, “Grande Amore,” which will be performed on all five of the company’s transatlantic ships. Themed around the world of opera, it will celebrate the love and beauty of traditional opera, classics, and popular selections.
The show will feature new musical pieces recorded exclusively for Silversea by London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. These will be performed live by the Voices of Silversea, many of whom are experienced vocalists with backgrounds in European opera, as well as London's West End and Broadway shows. The production will boast elegant costumes, dramatic visual effects, and a vibrant neoclassical design reminiscent of ancient Rome.
The musical tracks were recorded in London at the end of August with musicians from London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and under the direction of renowned composer and conductor Richard Balcombe. Balcombe also conducted the orchestra for the recording of the music that accompanied Silversea's successful "Música Maestro" show, which premiered in 2014. "This new show is an inspired and passionate tribute to our company's Italian heritage. The show “Grande Amore” is being produced for Silversea by London-based Luna Rossa Productions. It will premiere on the Silver Whisper, departing from New York to Barbados on November 2, 2017, and will be rolled out across the rest of the fleet in the following months.
