The Oriana cruise ship, consigned by PÉREZ Y CÍA, will dock tomorrow Tuesday at the Almirante Dock in what will be its third stop of the season in the port of Santander with 1,811 passengers, mostly British, and 800 crew members on board.
The cruise ship, 260 meters long and with a draft of 7.90 meters, will enter the port at 9:00 a.m., arriving from the port of La Rochelle, and is scheduled to depart at 4:30 p.m. bound for the port of A Coruña. It is a ship built in 1995 and refurbished in 2011, specifically designed for the British cruise market and exclusively for adults.
Some of the travelers will take excursions around the city, now that the Botín Centre is open, to discover its main attractions—a panoramic tour by tourist bus, another by bicycle, and a third on foot for tapas. They will also visit other nearby towns such as Comillas, San Vicente de la Barquera, and Cabárceno.
Furthermore, as is the case at every stop, the City Council will provide maps and tourist information to passengers, and the regional government's tourist information office, located at the Maritime Station, will remain open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to meet the demand for information.
The City Council, the Regional Government and the Port Authority are working together not only to ensure the success of this stopover but also to find ways to attract cruise tourism to the Autonomous Community due to its significant impact on the service sector and local businesses.
This traffic represents a significant segment of activity for both Cantabria and the Port. The Passenger Terminal, located in the heart of Santander, and the excellent facilities offered by the ferry and cruise services provide an exceptional platform from which passengers have access to an attractive, unique, and varied range of leisure activities.
