Silversea Expeditions has launched the first of two seven-night itineraries to the Galapagos Islands. The Silver Galapagos , with a capacity for 100 guests—all in suites—will offer two alternative itineraries approved by the Galapagos National Park Service.
Departing from Baltra for the first time this April, the new north-central itinerary showcases the best of the Galápagos Islands on its way to San Cristóbal. In addition to circumnavigating Daphne Grande Island, the voyage explores Darwin Bay and El Barranco on Genovesa; the Cerro Colorado Galapagos Sanctuary and Punta Pitt on San Cristóbal; Gardner Bay and Punta Suárez on Española; El Edén, the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, and Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz; as well as Sullivan Bay, North Seymour, Rábida, and South Plazas. Highlights of the trip include climbing Prince Philip's Steps to see a thriving bird colony, hiking the slopes of an extinct volcano, and admiring the antics of the exotic blue-footed and red-footed boobies.
The new western itinerary from San Cristóbal to Baltra features new points of interest such as Cerro Dragón and Las Bachas Beach on Santa Cruz Island, and a circumnavigation of Sleeping Lion Rock. The trip also includes visits to Punta Vicente Roca, Tagus Cove, and Elizabeth Bay on Isabela Island; Los Correos Bay, Champion Islet, and Cormorant Point on Floreana Island; Los Gemelos, the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, and Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island; and Bartolomé Island, Espumilla Beach, and Espinoza Point. Highlights of the trip include observing land iguanas and penguins along rocky shores, swimming with sea turtles, sea lions, and manta rays, and hiking through fragrant palo santo.
