Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has announced that it has reached an agreement with Fincantieri SpA for the construction of the next generation of extraordinary cruise ships for its Norwegian Cruise Line brand. Four ships have been ordered, to be delivered in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, with an option for two additional ships to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.
The four ships, each with a gross tonnage of 140,000, will have a capacity for approximately 3,300 passengers. This new class will enhance the freedom and flexibility already offered aboard the brand's newest Breakaway Plus class ships and will feature an innovative design. Energy efficiency is a key priority in the prototype's design, with the aim of optimizing fuel consumption and reducing environmental impact.
