Star Clippers has announced what will be the largest ship in its fleet, the Flying Clipper. It will carry 300 passengers, weigh 8,770 GRT tons, and be powered by more than 35 sails. This announcement coincides with the company's 25th anniversary. It is scheduled to begin sailing in late 2017.
In 1991, Star Clippers launched its first ship, the Star Flyer, a reproduction of classic 19th-century vessels. The Flying Clipper will be a replica of the Francia II, which was built in 1911 in Gironde, near Bordeaux.
This company's ships sail the Mediterranean during the summer months and the Caribbean and Cuba during the winter. A new route to Asia will launch this December, and a new route to Indonesia will begin in the summer of 2017
This new ship will feature three swimming pools, a large platform for water sports, 34 suites with balconies, four luxury suites, a library, and several bars catering to different age groups. It will also be equipped with state-of-the-art, eco-friendly engines powered by wind energy generated by its sails.
This new yacht will be built by Brodosplit Shipyards, Split in Croatia, will be delivered at the end of 2017 and will begin its cruises in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
