Holland America Line's new ship, ms Koningsdam, arrived at the Fincantieri Shipyards on January 16th, after successfully completing its first sea trials off the Italian coast
The first open sea trials took place on January 2nd, when the ms Koningsdam left the dry dock to sail for three days along the Italian coast to the Fincantieri shipyards in the city of Trieste.
The ship completed its second sea trial on January 10th, returning to the Marghera Shipyards for final adjustments before being fully completed.
According to Holland America President Orlando Ashford, "The Koningsdam is a new class of ship for Holland America, which is why there has been so much anticipation to see the ship at sea."
In its inaugural season, the new ship ms Koningsdamwill sail a series of itineraries in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and the Caribbean. The christening ceremony will take place in Rotterdam on May 20, 2016.
