The MSC Armonia cruise ship, with a capacity for 2,550 passengers, is scheduled to begin operating in Cuba later this year. The company remains focused on improving relations between the US and Cuba.
The MSC cruise company announced that it will add a second ship to its operations in Cuba, due to the success achieved since the MSC Opera began its Caribbean voyages in December, based in Havana.
The MSC Armonia, with a capacity for 2,550 passengers, would begin operating in Cuba at the end of this year.
Gianni Onorato, an MSC executive, said the company “is focused on improving relations between the United States and Cuba, with the hope that its citizens will be able to travel to the island as tourists .”
The Opera , with a capacity for 2,150 passengers , is the largest cruise ship to have ever docked in Cuba, offering seven-day itineraries that include the Caribbean and several Cuban ports. Its passengers are a mix of Europeans and Canadians who travel to Havana on chartered flights.
MSC is the only major cruise company that Cuba has so far authorized to base its ships on the island.
