The cruise ship Azamara Journey docked at the South Pier of the Port of Huelva on November 28th with 1,000 passengers

They were welcomed and bid farewell with a reenactment of the history of the Discovery of America and a taste of Condado wine.
The Azamara Journey cruise ship, belonging to Azamara Cruises, measuring 181 meters in length, made a stop at the South Quay of the Port of Huelva on November 28th, arriving from Gibraltar with approximately 1,000 people on board. Nearly 600 passengers were from Europe, the United States, and Canada, and the crew consisted of more than 400 people from around the world.
The ship docked at the South Quay at approximately 8:30 a.m. and departed at approximately 10:00 p.m., bound for the island of Saint Martin in the Caribbean, according to the shipping agent Bergé.
Of the total number of passengers, more than 600 are expected to explore the streets of Huelva, and about 100 are scheduled to visit Seville.
The Port of Huelva provides shuttle buses for passengers connecting the South Wharf with the center of Huelva, where tourists were welcomed near the Parque de las Palomas (Pigeon Park) by the Alota del Tinto theater group, which reenacted the Discovery of America, and by a venenciadora (sherry pourer) offering wine from the Condado de Huelva Designation of Origin. Passengers were seen off at the South Wharf in the same manner.
On board the ship, tourists receive information about the city and province's tourist attractions thanks to the collaboration of the Huelva City Council and the Provincial Tourism Board.
The president of the Huelva Port Authority, Manuela de Paz, stated that the Port of Huelva's efforts in promoting the port as a cruise port have paid off, given that six cruise ship calls have been received this year and 21 are planned for 2016.
De Paz also highlighted the existing coordination between various institutions, companies, and business organizations within the Huelva Cruise Network aims to combine efforts to offer high-quality services to tourists, ensuring they have a positive experience and encouraging cruise lines to include Huelva as a destination in their itineraries. Therefore, he requested the collaboration of residents and businesses to provide excellent service to tourists.
The Huelva Cruise Network meets regularly to coordinate the arrival and departure of cruise ships. In this regard, the City Council has created a detailed map of the city, and the Huelva Chamber of Commerce is implementing the "Vive Huelva Cruises" label for shops, bars, and restaurants, which will serve as a mark of quality and service for cruise passengers.
For its part, the Port of Huelva offers free Wi-Fi at the South Dock so that tourists and ship crews have access to the internet.
The Port of Huelva has promoted the creation of a large working group within a Cruise Observatory called Huelva Cruise Network, together with representatives from various business organizations, tourism companies, transport and commerce, Huelva City Council, Tourism Board, Chamber of Commerce and Huelva Federation of Businessmen, shipping agents, shipping companies, guides, agents of the State Security Forces, Maritime Captaincy, Port Authority of Huelva and other institutions, among others, in order to create the Huelva brand and promote this destination as a cruise stop.
