MSC Cruises celebrates its 100th call at the port of Palma with the arrival of MSC Preziosa

MSC Cruises celebrates its 100th port call of the season in Palma today with the arrival of the MSC Preziosa, which calls at the port every Wednesday from Cagliari, Italy. Joining it for this milestone are two other MSC Cruises ships arriving a few hours later: the MSC Sinfonia (from Malaga) and the MSC Fantasia (from Valletta, Malta).

In 2015, MSC Cruises will break the record for the most port calls in Palma by a single company in a single season, with more than 120 visits. The president of the Balearic Islands Port Authority, Joan Gual de Torrella, celebrated the continued commitment and confidence shown by the Italian cruise line, demonstrating its satisfaction in offering its customers a destination like the Balearic Islands.

For his part, Emiliano González, Managing Director of MSC Cruises, stated: “Celebrating our 100th port call in Palma de Mallorca is a source of great satisfaction and further reflects MSC Cruises’ commitment to the island and the Mediterranean, where we sail year-round. Palma de Mallorca has established itself as one of the most popular destinations for our customers in the Western Mediterranean.”

MSC Cruises' commitment to the Balearic capital is reflected in the fact that in 2015, nine of the twelve ships in its fleet will call at Palma de Mallorca. (MSC Splendida, MSC Preziosa, MSC Magnifica, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Armonia, MSC Fantasia, MSC Musica, MSC Divina, and MSC Opera)

The MSC Preziosa, with a displacement of 139,072 tons, was built in 2013 and is 333 meters long, with a capacity for 3,502 passengers and a crew of 1,388. Its average speed is 18 knots. The flagship won the award for Best Ship in the Mediterranean, presented by the "Cruise Excellence Awards," at a ceremony held in Palma last March. MSC Cruises is characterized, among other things, by its significant investment in the quality of its services and, in particular, in its ongoing new construction and upgrades. Its stop in Palma is part of an eight-day Western Mediterranean itinerary that includes stops in Valencia, Marseille, Genoa, and Civitavecchia. The shipping agent is Transcoma Baleares, part of the Verlio Group.
